Katie Couric Unfolds Her Vehemence On Her Husband’s Demise

In the latest interview with the news outlets, the journalist and founder of Katie Couric media unfold the tragedy of her life. She acknowledged the synopsis that why early detection screening is essential for cancer patients.

Katie Couric began advocating the concept of screening after her first husband Jay Monahan passed away from colon cancer in 1998. She advised the current batch of patients to opt for early detection screening as it could affect many lives across the world.

Katie Couric previously had said that her husband’s pain doubled over in his abdomen, which resulted in the complete blockage of his colon. His husband died at 41 of a cancer tumor.

The experts from the American Cancer Society rectify that colorectal cancer does not unfurl symptoms until it has emerged or spread, which they previously stated could be detected in the later stages also. The sole reason for getting screening early is to know the adverse impact it is going to cause your body in the later stages.

“Jay never really had any symptoms of colon cancer, other than being tired all of the time, which we chalked up to a busy lifestyle, having young children, and his coast-to-coast trips providing legal analysis for NBC,” she said.

The ACS Recommends screening of individuals above 45 since 2018. In October 2020, guidelines from the US Preventive Services Task Force also reverberated the same motion.

Colon cancer rates in adults above 50 years of age have been rising since the mid-80s, and still show no signs of recovery. In consideration, one 2017 study found that people younger than 55 are 58% more likely to be diagnosed with late-stage colorectal cancer than older people.
